We're deep believers in divine alignment. In 2020, Kelsey returned from a seven-month soul-searching backpacking trip around the world. She had a previous life in software sales but knew her life had a deeper purpose working with women and using her hands for healing. In a dream, the sacred doula life chose her and just three short days later she met Rori at a casual doula meet-up.​

Rori had already been doing doula work for four years and she'd come to the meet-up from an incredibly empowering birth and the birth high was contagious. We instantly knew we’d become fast friends. We had an energetic connection, similar to the mutual feeling felt with clients who are drawn to our energy. It didn’t take long for us to realize we have so much in common in our personal and professional lives, as well as in our roots. It's as if our souls were sisters in a past life.

We both intuitively had the inner knowing that this sacred work couldn’t be done alone. We often say it takes a village to raise a baby and to raise a mother. The same goes for birth workers: it takes a village to support one another, so we can continue to serve more families from an abundant space. Together, we recognized a need for more personalized doula care, full-spectrum childbirth education, intimate community during pregnancy and trusting support spanning into postpartum. This is when we knew Soul Shine Birth was ready to be born. We became dedicated to ensuring there would always be a feeling of safety, trusted support and connection with the families we'd serve.

Today, Soul Shine Birth brings together our special gifts and over a decade of experience into a unique duo doula approach. It doesn't just stop there. Month over month, we're always finding new ways to serve this community that's so special to us. We've spent years refining birth and postpartum curriculums that are meaningful and engaging, and we're so proud of the impact these classes have had in our community. We've expanded our service offerings to include placenta encapsulation and blessingways, cultivated a trusted online community, hosted regular in-person community gatherings, and have a team of fifteen dedicated doulas whom we're so proud to work alongside.

 

Our souls coming together was serendipitous, but our work now is because of the deep passion and shared dedication to this sacred work. We’re on an unstoppable mission to empower families on their paths into parenthood, and we continually strive to expand our knowledge to better serve you.
